Two Financial Aid Questions We’re Seeing A Lot Lately

Do we need to provide both FAFSA and CSS?

Typically yes, you provide both. (The school will specify this, reach out to us with additional concerns).

Should I provide these documents even if we’re not looking for aid?

Yes, even if not looking for FinAid, it’s good practice to have these documents completed. The school files them away and retains them if, and when, any aid is necessary. Completing these forms also (1) opens avenues to other forms of money, like merit scholarships, (2) it qualifies your family for a federal loan, though you may never use it, and (3) it is giving the college(s) peace of mind — by filling out the forms, a student is motivated and more likely to go to college.
