How Do You Prepare for the SAT or ACT?
2 min readOct 14, 2017
After our most recent standardized testing post (Prep & Practice in the Days Leading Up to the SAT/ACT) we went ahead and asked this question of a number of high school juniors and seniors to see how they prepared themselves. Their responses may help you to prep for your own SAT or ACT test! No matter what, know that you must find the time to relax and focus rather than cram and ultimately stress yourself out!
“Typically, I make sure to go to bed on the earlier side, so I am able to give myself time to wake up and eat a good breakfast of eggs, toast, and fruit.” — Jack
“Although it is difficult these days, I try to stay off my phone an hour before I sleep as sort of a brain cleanse so I can sleep well and have my mind ready for the test.” — Malcolm
“With a good night’s sleep and a good breakfast, the stress will be minimal which leads to higher chances of success.” — Madison
“Make sure to study plenty before the test, but in my opinion, don’t study the night before the test or else you will be extremely stressed.” — Justin
“Make sure your sleeping schedule is on point a few days before the test. Set a scheduled time to sleep and stick with it for a few days before the test so your body becomes used to it. — Gina
“Diet is key, try and keep your diet simple and somewhat healthy so you can prevent yourself from a stomachache or discomfort during the test.” — Prescott
“If possible, try not to strain yourself the day before the test, possibly a workout if it helps relieve stress, but nothing too big in the event that it tires you out.” -Johnny
“Don’t do too much studying or anything else that may stress you out on the day before the test. Just relax.” — Vince
